About us.
Learn more about Peterborough & Spalding Gliding Club, our mission, vision, and the dedicated team promoting the sport of gliding for everyone.
- Our club is situated a couple of miles north of Crowland, and 5 miles south of Spalding on the old A1073. Our postcode for your sat nav is PE6 0JW or what3words ///weeps.compounds.twirls
- We are a thriving gliding club with over 60 active flying members, Community amateur sports club (CASC) registered, not for profit, 100% voluntarily run by the members for the members.
- We have a committee who steer the club forward, promoting safety, future events, new ideas and carrying out regulatory matters.
- We have instructors authorised and working to the standards of the British Gliding Association.
- We offer trial flights/lessons which can either be purchased on the day or bought as a voucher for a present that is sure to be remembered.
- We always need new members, whether you wish to learn to fly, occasionally fly with a qualified pilot, or volunteer to help with flying operations.
- We welcome visitors and spectators on any flying day. We operate every weekend, subject to weather conditions.

About the flights.
- All lessons/flights are with qualified instructors.
- Weight and medical matters. If the person to fly is over 16 stones (102kg) or over 6ft 4ins, or there are medical concerns please read our Safety and medical information.
- Reserve a flight time slot by booking your flight on our calendar (below).
- On the day of the flight, you don't have to arrive ahead of the appointment time but you are welcome to.
We reserve 1 hour per flight so there is plenty of time for preparation and leeway if you are running a bit late. - It happens that a few flyable days are not suitable for the mile high flight, which are those with total cloud cover below 5000 feet.
If, on the day, we are certain of this we will try and contact you.
About booking your flight.
- In addition to our own vouchers, we also accept Into the Blue, Red Letter and Virgin vouchers.
- Should flying be cancelled on the day we will try and contact you, but you are welcome to call us for advice on weather suitability etc.
The decision to cancel flying due to weather is made by 10:00. If you are travelling far you might consider booking the 12:00 or later time slot. - Please ensure you bring your voucher with you; either the paper or electronic version, whichever is applicable. We need it to ensure we will receive payment from the third party voucher supplier; Into The Blue, Red Letter or Virgin.
- For a 3 flight voucher, please book 3 calendar slots. They don't have to be all flown on the same day which can be an advantage with our variable weather. 2 on one day and the 3rd on another is a popular choice.
- Note: The calendar only displays free slots. We operate on Saturdays and Sundays.
